The Relay team is looking for a skilled of Director of Engineering to lead a growing and highly capable development team. This is a critical strategic hire for the executive team – you will be creating and molding the technology and product roadmap as the company continues to scale. Though not required, ideally this position would develop into a CTO role with the company.

The founder is an experienced serial entrepreneur and investor with a track record of previous exits.
As the Director of Engineering, you’ll be a key player in strategic problem-solving for the company specifically around technology selection, evaluation, and implementation. This role early on will be heavily hands-on with respect to building and writing quality code and creating new features. The founding and executive team will look to you for insights on the scalability of their current tech stack (GCP, BigQuery, Node, MongoDB, React, React Native), as well as making tech stack recommendations moving forward according to best practices, cost tradeoffs, etc. Experience in Twilio is critical – you'll need to manage 10's of millions of concurrent messages at scale. You will be managing a highly capable, distributed team (US-based in Salt Lake City and eastern Europe).
